When you first arrive in the Saint John Region, you will need somewhere to live. Short-term housing may be your best option. This will give you time to get familiar with your new city, and consider where you may want to live more permanently, without having to commit long-term. You have a lot of options for short-term housing in the City.
Short-term housing options
Many places have daily, weekly, or monthly rates for short-term housing. Options include:
- Hostels, motels and hotels
- Bed and breakfasts
- Apartments
- Guesthouses
- College and university residences
- Sublet a house or apartment for a few months
What to expect
Most apartments are “unfurnished”, which means there will be no furniture, but there will be a stove and fridge. “Furnished” apartments are harder to find, and sometimes include beds, dressers, couches, dishes and cutlery. Make sure you confirm what is included prior to signing your lease.
Whichever option you decide on, be sure to pay a deposit with the Rental Tribunal Office (gnb.ca) to ensure you are well-protected as a tenant. When renting a house or apartment in the Saint John Region, you should know your rights as a tenant.
