Like all modern cities, the Saint John Region offers its residents multiple, dependable transportation options. And that includes making it easy for people to travel without the burden of owning a private vehicle. Public transit services are a sustainable, practical, and cost-effective way to get around with many convenient routes, all while minimizing your environmental footprint and helping to create a more sustainable region.
How to pay for public transit
Public transit offers three different ways to pay: cash fare for each ride, a monthly pass, and a Transcard.
- Cash per ride: When you pay per ride, you need to have the exact amount of money for a ride ($2.75 per adult). The driver cannot provide change. A cash fare is usually the most expensive way to pay for transit.
- Monthly passes: A monthly pass is a plastic card that offers unlimited bus rides for a whole month, from the 1st day of the month showing on the card until the last day of that month. Depending on how much you take the bus, a monthly pass can be the most affordable way to pay for transit.
- Transcard: You can purchase a Transcard preloaded with 10 or 20 rides, for a lower fare per ride ($2.50 per adult).
Monthly passes and Transcards can be purchased at a wide variety of locations across the City including Shoppers Drug Mart, Jean Coutu, other drugstores, and book stores.
Citizens of Rothesay and Quispamsis can use Comex buses which have routes to Uptown Saint John.
