Regional employers connect with newcomers at Saint John job fair

The Saint John Local Immigration Partnership worked with the Job Developers Network to bring together employers and newcomer job seekers at a regional Job Fair on Thursday, May 16, in the Market Square Atrium.

“As the Saint John Local Immigration Partnership continues to execute the Succeed and Stay Immigration Strategy, collaborative events such as this upcoming job fair are key to ensuring newcomers thrive and stay in our community. We are excited about this event and are thankful to all the partners who have made this happen, including the employers” said David Dobbelsteyn, co-chair of the Saint John Local Immigration Partnership.

The Job Developers Network is made up of community, government, and not-for-profit organizations that are dedicated to facilitating better communication and coordination between organizations in the workforce development space – aiming to foster a united culture of collaboration. "Collaboration is the key to success and we are thrilled to be working with our community on such impactful initiatives,” said Daniel Rito, Director of Population Growth and Workforce Development at Envision Saint John: The Regional Growth Agency. “By bringing together partners from all corners of the ecosystem, we are able to achieve great things in our labour market.”

More than 30 employers were in attendance to connect with job seekers on current opportunities. Employers and newcomers also had the opportunity to attend information sessions and workshops that guided people through immigration pathways. “It's not just about finding jobs; it's about fostering inclusion and empowerment,” explained Tavia Han, Leadership Team with the Job Development Network and Pre-Employment Team Manager at the Saint John Newcomers Centre.
